The Cub Scout Pinewood Derby is one of the most popular scouting activities. Each year the boys work hard
to make their perfect car and look forward to race day.
The wooden track that our pack uses is several years old and has reached the end of its life. The effects
of storage, assembly, disassembly, and normal wear and tear have taken their toll on our track. The pack needs something
new.
It is now possible to purchase lightweight, aluminum tracks that are much more resistant to damage
and will not warp. Gone are the days of "fast" or "slow" lanes or cars jumping the track because of damaged wooden
joints or uneven connections.

The Cub Scouts need your help to purchase a new 42-foot, four-lane, aluminum track. The cost of the track (including
shipping) is $892. No, this isn't cheap, but it's a track that the Cub Scouts in Vienna will be able to use for many years
to come.
We hope to have the money we need for the track by April 30, 2006. Keep reading to find out how you
can help the Cub Scouts get their track.

We have decided to buy the track "an inch at a time". Each inch costs 1.50 euros. "Buy" as many
inches of track as you'd like. You can make your pledge by clicking here or by sending an email to joekahnhr@yahoo.com . Provide your name, phone number, email address and how many inches of track you would like to "buy."
With your permission, your name will be added to a plaque that will be displayed during all future Pinewood
Derbies in Vienna.
We will keep track on this web site of the progress of the pledge drive. Click here to see how we're doing.
Thanks for your support!
